Professional service you need to completely eradicate the problem and restore
the structure of your property, with help and advice to prevent further out breaks.

Wet Rot

There are two types of wet rot, white and brown. Both can be destructive to timber but they each affect the wood differently depending upon type. White rots tend to reduce the timber to a stringy, fibrous texture whilst brown rots cause cracking & shrinking. Wet rot is caused through high moisture content within timber.
A Kilrot and Cellar-tec surveyor will prepare a report and specification, based on a thorough inspection, for the eradication. Causes that are primarily to blame are roofs and guttering that leak. Damp and poorly ventilated environments also increase the chances of wet rot.
The solution is to control the environment and rectify the cause of the dampness. Any timber badly affected by wet rot should be cut out and replaced with new, pre-treated timber and all cut ends treated.

Dry Rot

The most serious of all wood – rotting fungi is dry rot; its ability to spread through brick walls means we need fast, specialist treatment! Because, even once detected, the infection is often already well-established the potential damage to your property from dry rot is enormous. The wood it attacks becomes dry and brittle and can be crumbled by hand.
As a rule of all thumb, all timber should be cut back one metre past the last sign of the outbreak, this is also to include associated wall plaster on both sides of the wall.
Kilrot / Cellar-tec will provide you with the professional service to completely eradicate the dry rot attack and restore the structure of your property. A Kilrot surveyor will prepare a report and specification, based on a preliminary inspection. We are based in Coventry and work throughout the whole of the Midlands.
